Vulnerability Assessments
The
Bioterrorism Act of 2002 requires water systems serving more than 3,300
persons to:
-
Conduct a vulnerability assessment;
-
Certify and submit a copy of the vulnerability assessment to EPA;
-
Prepare or revise an emergency response plan based on the results of the
vulnerability assessment;
-
Certify to EPA that an emergency response plan has been completed or updated
within 6 months of completing the assessment.
While not a requirement of the Bioterrorism Act, water systems are strongly
encouraged to regularly review and update their vulnerability assessments and
emergency response plans.
MunicipalH2O.com conducts Vulnerability Assessments to help you determine and
evaluate the susceptibility of your water or wastewater facility to terrorist
activities, deliberate contamination, or other events. As part of the
Vulnerability Assessment, we work with you to identify the appropriate risk
reduction methods for any identified areas of susceptibility.
